Friends you may soon find it very easy to play blackjack and other table
games in Delaware, the state which has been the recent on the list to green
light table games. Few days back Delaware State Senate had approved and passed
a bill called the Table Game Bill which would allow people to play table games
at Casinos across the state. After that there has been a lot of joy among
people who were barred from playing the casino games in the state. News is
going around that Delaware may go ahead of Pennsylvania in implementing the
law
to make people come to the casinos for playing poker and any other table game
that is permitted under this bill.
Buzz is around that Delaware is trying to make things fast and would try to
put behind its competitor Pennsylvania in rolling out the new industry. There
is anticipation that the games would take place as early as May thus edging
out
Pennsylvania by nearly a month of more. Though the state lottery commission
has
not yet announced which table games they would allow in the state casinos it
is
expected that poker, blackjack, and roulette would be dominating the table
games.
Dover Down President and CEO Ed Sutor said, “All three racetracks in
Delaware are off to the races trying to get open as quickly as possible.
Everything depends on how fast we can hire employees, train them, get dealers
and get up and going.” The table game bill has been signed into law by
Delaware Gov. Jack Markell on January 28. Now the three casinos of Delaware
notably – Delaware Park, Dover Downs, and Harrington Raceway & Casino
can add as many tables as they want in the casinos.
It is reported that Delaware Lottery is in the process of establishing
regulations and determining the types of games that would be allowed in the
casinos. It is expected that the games would be similar to the casinos of
Atlantic City and Las Vegas. Sutor confirmed this anticipation. He said,
“The easiest of the games is poker, we expect to have that up by May, the
hardest game is craps — that takes a long time to teach.” (Merrit,
2010)
Like Delaware Pennsylvania too is new to the table games and they would
actually plan to look into the matter and framing rules for the table games.
Pennsylvania few days ago confirmed that their table games would take place
somewhat between June and September according to the progress of their
preparation and framing of rules.
Though Dover Down has not said anything about poker tables, Delaware Park
has announced that it would have poker room with 20 tables in place that would
be operation by late May and there would be nearly other 52 tables for games
like blackjack, mini-baccarat, craps, and others. The opening of casinos not
only increases the state revenue but also employment opportunities. For
instance take the example of Delaware where it is anticipated that nearly 750
employees would recruited in the three casinos for smooth operation of the
table games.
