It must be nice to have money to blow. I think everyone reading this can understand that last statement. I’m not talking about a shopping spree at the mall or upgrading to a room with a jacuzzi tub every now and then. I’m talking about having enough money to just blow with a “Who care’s?” attitude. Go gambling at the casino knowing that you can just have fun, no matter what the bet. That is the way Mike Ashley lives. Those in the United States may not instantly recognize that name but soccer fans in England will. Mr. Ashley is the owner of the Newcastle Football Club. Mr. Ashley was able to amass quite a fortune with his Sports Direct store chain. He is the twenty-fifth richest man in the United Kingdom. He is reported to be worth over £1.9 billion.
Mr. Ashley recently took a night out to visit the Aspers Casino. His game of choice was craps. He and the manager of his soccer team, Alan Pardew entered the casino with a few others around eleven at night and quickly found themselves at the tables. He began placing bets “all over the table,” wagering thousands at at time. It did not take long for Mr. Ashley to be up close to £130,000. Then it was break time. Mr. Ashley deposited some of the winnings in his account and kept the rest.
After the break he was back at the casino’s craps tables. However, this time his luck had changed. Before he knew it he was down £970,000. This turnaround is a story in itself. However, it was Mr. Ashley’s actions that are the real story. He never seemed to be bothered. Casino patrons said he kept a smile on his face. He was buying drinks for his fellow players. When he left he tipped the dealer £700, and that was for a losing night. Ah, that’s the life.
