Microgaming recently held an exciting online casino slots tournament, the Grand Slam of Slots II. The tournament began on Friday, May 27th, and ended on Monday, June 6th, 2011. For the first time, the exciting and very popular online casino slot game, Thunderstruck II was used as the game of choice for the online casino slot tournament.
Unfortunately for the winners, none were eligible to win the possible $2.4 million bonus prize, which was only available to the winner if the full pay table was completed. Although this incredible bonus prize was not won, there were still 290 players who finished the Grand Slam of Slots II in the money.
The winner of the tournament, a player identified, as A.P., won $157,515.83, which is certainly a great prize to take home. Not only did the winner take home the main prize, but A.P. also won an additional $1,000 in another tournament, the Network $25k Monthly Monster Tournament just 24 hours before winning the Grand Slam of Slots II.
The second place player, Lucko, won $78,780.75 and the lucky third place winner took home a very respectable $39,367.54.
Although there was the possibility of the bonus prize creating another millionaire, the players were not counting on that, and were watching the regular prize pool rise, in the hopes of taking home a piece of the pie. The prize pool began at $290,000 and rose over the eleven days of the Grand Slam of Slots II tournament to the total prize pool of $456,700.
The 290 lucky winners who received cash prizes came out of 1,588 entrants that had played during the online casino tournament.
The Head of Casino at Microgaming, Mike Hebden, had the following to say: "After the success of the first Grand Slam of Slots in 2009, this tournament had a lot to live up to and it certainly did not disappoint. Thunderstruck II proved to be a very popular choice with players; it was a fun and exciting tournament. The bonus prize of $2.43m remained unclaimed and we’ll come up with an even better prize for Grand Slam of Slots III, making for a very exciting tournament indeed! Congratulations to A.P and all the players who have won throughout the tournament."
Players that have enjoyed one or both of the Grand Slam of Slots tournaments are hoping that there will be a Grand Slam of Slots III, and the words of Mike Hebden have certainly generated excitement amongst Microgaming’s online slot players who now look forward to the next Grand Slam of Slots tournament.
